Carillon Assisted Living hosted March’s Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce Coffee with the Girls. The speaker was Kathryn Lawler, Hypnosis by Professionals. The topic was Psycho-Geometrics. Dr. Lawler also discussed how to work with different personality types. "Psycho-Geometics is based on the book by Susan Dellinger, PhD, Prentice Hall, 1989. In which, Dellinger suggests that we tend to be attracted to certain shapes and forms because of our personalities, attitudes, education and experiences."

The 44-page guide is the only guide published by the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce. 32 SBMS Students Recognized as Good Neighbors

Thirty two students at South Brunswick Middle School were honored on Friday, March 16th for being “Good Neighbors” in their school and in their communities. Honorees, along with their families, were invited to attend the award ceremony which took place in the school’s media center. Breakfast was shared while guest speaker Lindsay Maher, Executive Director of the Brunswick Wellness Coalition shared what it means to be a good neighbor.  Maher applauded the students for their efforts and encouraged them to continue being good neighbors.  Teachers of the students then presented the awards while sharing briefly why the student was chosen to be honored.

Big Crowd Attends the 2018 Coastal Consumer Show

The 2018 Coastal Consumer Showcase drew a large crowd as an estimated 600 people attended the annual event held at the St. James Community Center.
Just over 60 businesses were available to answer questions about the products and services they provide to our Southport-Oak Island Area residents daily.  Residents and visitors who attended the show were encouraged to register for a chance to win $100 and numerous prizes in the Pick-A-Prize Auction.   Todd Beane, CIS Communications and Thrift Shop Operations Manager was the lucky winner of the $100 cash prize.  When asked what he liked about the event Mr. Beane said, “The Coastal Consumer Showcase is one of the best ann ...

You know you are having a good meeting when you are the last to leave and remember you forgot to take a photo. Happened twice a couple weeks ago - once at the Coffee at the Girls held at the Comfort Suites and the other at Thai Peppers for the monthly Ambassadors meeting.The Next Coffee with the Girls is scheduled for Tuesday, March 20th at 8am. We will meet at Carillon Assisted Living, 1125 E. Leonard Street in Southport.  The speaker will be Kathryn Lawler, Hypnosis by Professionals. February Cash Mob Finds Treasure at CIS Thrift Shop

On Thursday, February 15th the Cash Mob convened at 1635 N. Howe Street in Southport then proceeded to “Mob” CIS Southport Thrift Shop.  Local mobsters participated and supported this locally operated non-profit thrift store that supports Brunswick County CIS’ Dropout Prevention programs.  The mob took full advantage of the “Cash Mob” specials only available during the event.  At the conclusion of shopping,  the “Mob” was invited to celebrate and socialize at Doc Meridian Winery in Southport.
