Southport Oak Island Chamber of Commerce-Welcome Center Coffee with the Girls met at the Southport NC Habitat for Humanity Restore this morning for an informative meeting with a little shopping thrown in for good measure. Chuck Withar, Restore Manager and Vicki Peters,General Manager of Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity did a great job welcoming our group and giving us an overview of the good work they do in our community.

“Highlighting the Best Local Products and Services”
Southport, NC – The 2019 Coastal Consumer Showcase drew a large crowd as an estimated 700 people attended the annual event held at the St. James Community Center.
59 businesses were available to answer questions about the products and services they provide to our Southport-Oak Island Area residents daily.  Residents and visitors who attended the show were encouraged to register for a chance to win $100 and numerous prizes in the Pick-A-Prize Auction.  Susan Flynn was the lucky winner of the $100 cash prize.

Colonel Carlisle Speaks at SBMS Good Neighbor Award Ceremony

Thirty-six students at South Brunswick Middle School were honored on Friday, March 15th for being “Good Neighbors” in their school and in their communities. Honorees, along with their families, were invited to attend the award ceremony which took place in the school’s media center. Breakfast was shared while guest speaker Colonel Heather J. Carlisle, Commander of Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point shared what it means to be a good neighbor.  Colonel Carlisle used a story of a boy helping stranded starfish to illustrate the importance of the actions of one person and how it can make a positive difference in the world. Brunswick County residents Frank & Lori Williams recently launched Pioneer Specialties, LLC, a promotional products and advertising specialties company based in Leland. The Office Hosts February Coffee with the Girls

The Office Coffee and Wine Bar hosted this month's Southport Oak Island Chamber of Commerce-Welcome Center Coffee with the Girls last week. Coffee with the Girls is a great way to network with other women in the business community. It is held the third Tuesday of each month at 8am in varies locations. On March 19th we will be at the Brunswick County Habitat for Humanity Restore (4170 Long Beach Road). Our Speaker will be from the Restore discussing the function of the Restore.

Chamber Donates to Hurricane Relief

The Southport Oak Island Chamber of Commerce-Welcome Center provided additional funding to Brunswick Family Assistance for ongoing Hurricane Relief efforts from funding by the U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament. Martin Register, 2018 & 2019 US Open KMT Chair presented a check for $5,400 to Charles “G” Jackson, Program Manager for Brunswick Family Assistance. This donation with prior donations total almost $8,000 to assist in recovery efforts for those in our community.

Eagle Scout Project Produces New Flag Pole at Chamber

Thank you to Mason Whitworth. Master Whitworth completed work on a new flag pole for the Southport Oak Island Chamber of Commerce-Welcome Center as part of his Eagle Scout Service Project. From design to leading his team to completion he was very organized and did a great job. He is part of the Scout Troop 238.
