Chamber Board Organizes at First Meeting of 2019/20 Year

On Thursday, July 11th Chamber President Lucinda Arnold (Coastal Painting & Improvements) called to order the first meeting of the 2019/2020 Board of Directors for the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber is a non-profit membership organization comprised of business leaders, organizations and individuals who join in a common purpose of improving the business environment in the Southport-Oak Island area. The Board of Directors are volunteers who are elected from the membership of the non-profit organization to determine the policies, programs and activities of the Chamber. The first order of business was to elect Kim Felts (CresCom Bank) the Senior Vice President and approve the organizational chart for the fiscal year.
The Chamber offers its members many benefits including networking activities such as Business Connections, Business Networking After Hours and Coffee with the Girls; advertising and marketing opportunities such as the Faces of Commerce Video Series, Southport-Oak Island area guide and street map; and quarterly educational roundtables at Out of the Box. The Chamber also organizes popular public events such as the US Open King Mackerel Tournament, Oak Island Lighthouse Run, Christmas by the Sea Parade, Coastal Consumer Showcase, Southport-Oak Island Restaurant Week and Youth Business Fair.
Membership in the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce is open to businesses, organizations and entrepreneurs who trade in the Chamber’s service area which includes Bolivia, Bald Head Island, Boiling Spring Lakes, Caswell Beach, Oak Island, St. James, Southport and Sunset Harbor.
