February Carpool Locations Announced

on 02/07/2019 - 12:01 pm

The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce continues to showcase its business community and give community organizations more exposure thru its promotion called It’s Worth the Drive Carpool.  The Carpool is part of the Chamber’s It's Worth The Drive Go Local campaign and another way the Chamber is showcasing and supporting local businesses during the temporary closing of the G.V. Barbee Bridge.

On Thursdays, the Carpool is Live on the Chamber’s Facebook page beginning at 10:00am.  The carpool riders begin with interviewing the owner of a business on the mainland, then jump in the carpool where a person of interest will discuss a club/organization/program as they travel to a second business located on Long Beach Road or Oak Island where the riders will take a tour of the second business.

“The Chamber’s Worth the Drive Carpool is a great way to showcase our member businesses, help promote the work of local non-profits, give community leaders a way to show their support for the business community during the temporary closing of the G.V. Barbee bridge to Oak Island and it is fun”, said Brenda Bowling, Worth the Drive Carpool Chairperson for the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce.   She continued by saying, “We hope residents and visitors will tune in to our Chamber’s Facebook page on Thursdays at 10am and learn about the products and services of our businesses and non-profits because they really are worth the drive.”
