Each winter, the Southport Oak Island Chamber of Commerce-Welcome Center annually hosts the Safe Plates training program for food protection manager certification.
NC Safe Plates for Food Safety Managers is a food safety certification course developed by North Carolina State University. Food service managers successfully completing the exam meet the 2013 FDA Food Code requirement for an ANSI (American National Standards Institution) approved Certified Food Protection Manager. The topic at the Chamber's January Out of the Box Luncheon was cyber security. Representatives of several member IT companies were on the panel to discuss security measures for our personal and business online activities. The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its annual business awards: Small Business of the Year, Small Business Customer Service of the Year and Non-Profit Organization of the Year. The nomination deadline is April 30th. Once nominated, the qualifying business or non-profit will be required to submit a nomination packet, which is then presented to the Brunswick Community College Small Business Center for selection.

Coffee with the Girls met in January in the Cape Fear Regional Jetport, hosted at Hamilton Realty Group's Airport location. Attorney & Counselor at Law, Zach Clouser, Clouser Law was the guest speaker. His topic was estate planning including asset protection and probate.
The next Coffee with the Girls will be held on February 19th at The Office Coffee and Wine Bar, 3280 George II Highway, BSL from 8:00am - 9:00am. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Southport, NC – The Coastal Consumer Showcase is once again coming to the St. James Community Center March 7th from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Admission is free to the public.

Yummy!!!! The Coffee with the Girls Annual Cookie Exchange was this morning hosted at the beautiful Robert Ruark Inn in downtown Southport. We had the best time! We are zooming around the office today thanks to all that sugar.
The next Coffee with the Girls will be held on January 15th at 8am in the Hamilton Realty Group’s Cape Fear Regional Jetport Office in the Main Terminal Building. The Speaker will be Zachary Clouser, Clouser Law and he will discuss Estate Planning.
