INVITES THE PUBLIC TO PARTICIPATE IN PATRIOTISM ON DISPLAY
June 23, 2020
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS, JUNE 26, 2020
Two hundred and twenty-five years ago, the first local Independence Day celebration was celebrated on the streets of Southport, North Carolina. The 4th of July Committee is proud to continue the tradition in the spirit of the Committee’s mission of promoting patriotism as first evidenced by the celebration of the Nation’s Independence by the military personnel at Fort Johnston and the local townspeople.
Once again this year, area businesses and homeowners turn the streets into a festive red, white and blue extravaganza. Many pictures have been taken through the years of the wonderful all-American scenes. While we won’t have all the usual crowds to see the displays this year, we can mark the occasion by creating a library of photos to share to the world through our social media platforms. We invite members of the public to submit up to five photos of their favorite displays. All the images will be showcased during the Virtual Festival on July 2nd at 8 a.m.
