Awards and Recognitions
The Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce has several award programs throughout the year to recognize businesses from within the membership who are excelling. Those awards are the quarterly Golden Pineapple Awards, annual Small Business Person of the Year, Customer Service of the Year, President's Award and Ambassador of the Year.
Golden Pineapple Award
In colonial America the pineapple symbolized the warmest welcome a hostess could extend to their guests. A business community that exemplify this same warm welcoming attitude through consistent, exceptional customer service is critical to the health and vitality of our community's economy.
To reward businesses who provide consistent, exceptional customer service the Chamber implemented the Quarterly Golden Pineapple Awards. The general public is encouraged to nominate a business in the Southport-Oak Island area that has provided you exceptional customer service. The only criteria is they must be a member of the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce. It only takes a few minutes - click below to nominate your favorite business.
All businesses nominated for a Golden Pineapple Award in the previous four quarters will be eligible to compete for the Southport-Oak Island Area Chamber of Commerce Small Business Customer Service of the Year Award. These businesses will be invited to compile a packet of information, which will be submitted for judging by the Small Business Technology Development Center @ UNCW. The winner will be announced at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting.
